1. Information We Collect
9th District Poll ("we," "our," or "the Site") collects minimal information from visitors. When you cast an approve or disapprove vote on a public official, we record only the vote type (approve or disapprove) and the official it pertains to. We do not require account creation, login, or any personally identifiable information (PII) to participate in polling.
2. No Personal Data Collection
We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, physical addresses, or any other personally identifiable information through the polling mechanism. Votes are anonymous and aggregated. We do not use cookies for tracking individual users across sessions.
3. Analytics and Server Logs
Our hosting provider (Vercel) may collect standard server access logs including IP addresses, browser type, referring pages, and timestamps. This data is used solely for maintaining the availability, security, and performance of the Site. We do not sell, share, or use this data for advertising or profiling purposes.
4. Third-Party Content
News article images displayed on the Site are linked directly from their original source publishers (e.g., WWMT, Fox 17, WKZO) and are not hosted on our servers. When these images load in your browser, your browser makes a request to the original publisher's servers, which may collect information according to their own privacy policies.
5. How We Use Information
Vote data is used exclusively to calculate and display aggregate approval and disapproval percentages for elected court officials. This data is presented publicly on the Site as a matter of public concern related to the performance of elected public officials in Kalamazoo County, Michigan.
6. Data Retention
Aggregate vote tallies are retained for the duration the Site is operational. Since votes are anonymous and contain no personal information, there is no personal data to delete upon request.
7. Children's Privacy
The Site is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. Since we collect no personal information from any user, no COPPA concerns arise from the use of this Site.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the Site after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
